Lorna’s Story So Far!

Here is Lorna’s Story.  She came to us unable to to a press up…..now she can do 20+. She was unhappy and less confident – and now she is much happier and confident! She has always worked hard and has been one of the most consistent Bootcampers – making an average 2 sessions a week without fail, and if ill or on holiday – does 3 the following week. She has then gone on to try a little dancing and boxing….and now in the open gym sessions working on her chin up strength!

I went to my first taster bootcamp session in November 2011 and I haven’t looked back since.  It has been the best thing I have ever done.  It got to the point where I was so fed up with myself, the way I looked, comments I was getting about my size – I was getting very close to being a size 14, which may not seem big but I am only small! ?

For a couple of weeks prior to my first session I had looked around for personal trainers in the area but I obviously had to take in to account my financial position too.  I knew just going to a gym on my own would be no good.  I had already tried this and had been a member of various gyms previous and eventually ended up cancelling my membership.

All I was doing was pretty much cardio, spending quite a lot of time on the treadmill and cross-trainer.

I had always thought that using weights would bulk me up but I was so wrong.  I love that my muscles are more defined and that I am far stronger now – I love my weights ?!!  I have a long way to go for myself but I will get there and am now down to a size 8.   Size isn’t everything of course!

I came across Your Next Level Fitness and messaged John….the rest is history as it were.  He was lovely and encouraged me to come and give it a try as it was a free trial.  It is a little more expensive than your traditional gyms but, as the saying goes, you get what you pay forThis is so true!

I can still remember one of my very first sessions on a Saturday morning which involved going round the field with various pieces of equipment, stopping in each corner to do a bodyweight circuit before moving on to the next corner.  Although I was very nervous initally doing something on my own I felt very at ease being there even though I didn’t know anybody.  My fitness levels were pretty much non-existent but the other members were very encouraging and I still train with some of them to this day.  One particular member (Lee Wiles) has even become a trainer at the gym and also now takes bootcamp and PT sessions.

Everybody is so welcoming and non-judgemental as everyone is in the same boat – they are there for the same reason you are! I have met some pretty amazing friends at Your Next Level  ?

When I started I couldn’t do any full press-ups or pull-ups, I even struggled with recline rows.  All this I can now do and still push myself to the next level.  It’s nice when people look up to what you can achieve as I never thought I’d be able to do anything like this when I first started.

Over the past few years Your Next Level Fitness members have taken part in Total Warrior.  Although we trained hard for it, it was an amazing fun experience.

I decided to raise proceeds for a charity in memory of my baby nephew.  During this sad period John and other members were so supportive and I am so grateful for that.

John has helped so much over the years, both in relation to with training and nutrition.  He has a knack of knowing what your limits are and will push you to them.  If you are unable to do a certain exercise for whatever reason, he will give you an alternative – he’s good like that.  I don’t know where I’d be now if I hadn’t taken the plunge.

Don’t ever be scared to make that first step, or think “I’m not fit enough”, that’s what Your Next Level Fitness is there for – to get you fit!  I’m not going to go on and on about how great the place is etc (although it really is!) you need to come and see for yourself.  There is a free taster session available so what have you got to lose!

All you new members – I look forward to seeing you!

Here are some clips of Lorna doing the tough stuff and challenging herself !
